Really scary haunted houses are popular around Reno and Sparks during Halloween season. Some of these haunted houses have effects that can be frightening even for those who think they are ready. Parents are cautioned to use discretion when taking children to these Halloween events. There is also a new family friendly haunted house, touted as spooky, not scary. Halloween 2026 is on Saturday, October 31.

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, September 26 - October 31, 2026. Corn Creepers is the only haunted attraction in a real corn field. It's pretty scary and not recommended for small children. However, there is a an option where visitors can wear a glow necklace and the spooks will tone down the scare factor. Even so, it's not recommended for small children. The starting base price is $16.50 per person purchased online, but it goes up from there through October. It is separate from the Corn Maze attraction. Hours are 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Located at 8100 Pyramid Way in Sparks. (775) 530-8032. No pets. It's recommended to buy tickets online.

At the old Nevada State Prison in Carson City, this haunted house is an immersive experience filled with terrifying live actors, jaw dropping special effects, and menacing monsters. There are three scary attractions plus an entertainment zone. Visit "The Shiv" for 21+ beverages. Open most Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from September 25 to November 1, 2026. Hours are 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. most nights. It is recommended to buy advance tickets online - they are more usually not available at the door. General admission starts at $34.95. VIP tickets available. Located at the old Nevada State Prison, 3301 Warm Springs Ct. in Carson City.

Month of October, 2026. The Haunted Greenhouse is open to all ages and available to explore during regular business hours. Whether you're looking for a family-friendly adventure, a fun date idea, or just want to see Moana Nursery in a way you've never seen it before, we promise this spooky twist will surprise and delight. Free candy while supplies last. Only at one location - 3397 Pyramid Way in Sparks.

October 2 to November 1, 2026, every Thursday through Saturday and Halloween, 8 p.m. to midnight. Scariest haunted house with over 10,000 square feet of terror. Professional actors. Not recommended for children under 8. General admission $35 in advance plus fees. 2350 Oddie Blvd. in Sparks.

Thursday through Saturday, October 22 - 24, 2026, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Join us for a spooky night at the farm. Enjoy some hot cocoa (adult versions available), construct your own broomstick to fly on using natural materials, make your own snake to wear on your arm, or design a fabric ghost. Take your chances in our haunted house (opens at 7pm) or stumble through the spooky cookie cave. Urban Roots is at 1700 E. 2nd St. in Reno. Tickets are available online from the website.

Some escape rooms are scary and offer a different take on the haunted house idea. There are several available, some suited to Halloween like "Dr. Ensaine" and "Operation Nightwalker." Get together with a group of friends, family, or co-workers to see if you can escape in time. Both of these are in Sparks at The Outlets at Legends shopping center, 1420 Scheels Drive. Haunted Halloween Happenings in Nearby Areas

Wednesdays through Sundays during September and October, 2026. Take a walk through one of America's most haunted cities. Tours are Thursday through Sunday evenings. Reservations required - space is limited. Call (775) 815-1050 or make reservations online. Note: Anyone who is intoxicated or acting inappropriately will be asked to leave the tour or investigation and no refund will be given. People under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Saturday, October 24, 2026, for the Halloween time ghost walks. "Into The Mystic" tours will leave every half hour between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The tours are a spooky and enjoyable way to experience Carson City's Victorian Era and diverse past. Hear about lingering spirits of the past, haunted and paranormal stories. These are guided walking tours of the downtown district's historic homes. Tours depart from McFadden Plaza, located at Curry and Third Street. Tours depart every 1/2 hour and last about 2 hours. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Tours happen rain or shine.
