Halloween is a big deal in Reno and Sparks. That means there are numerous events and activities for kids and families, many of which are free (or inexpensive). For trick-or-treating, there are fun and safe alternatives to the traditional dash between houses out on the public streets.

October 1 - 31, 2026. TeenTober is an annual, nationwide celebration that aims to promote year-round teen services and help teens learn new skills and fuel their passions inside and outside the library. Search our calendar of events to see all the events we have planned.

Saturday and Sunday, October 24 - 25, 2026, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. As part of our behavioral enrichment program, some of the animals will receive pumpkins filled with their favorite treats. Watch the enjoyment experienced by our predators when presented with these unique and delicious treats. Throughout each session, pumpkins will be delivered to different animals. Be sure to bring the camera for animal viewing at its finest. Trick or treating for kids. Adults $23; Seniors $21; Children $17. Ages 2 and under free. Open to the public. Saturday, October 24, 2026, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Appearances from your favorite local bands and their favorite iconic bands. Also: food trucks, vendors, activities, and a haunted house. You are encouraged to get advance tickets online. At Ferrari Farms, 4701 Mill St. in Reno.

Sunday, October 18, 2026, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Nevada State Police, Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles, and Nevada Department of Transportation are excited to announce that Trunk or Treat 2026 in Reno will be held with participating law enforcement, first responder and community partners. Bring the family, wear your costumes and come enjoy decorated vehicles, candy and a chance to meet some of the people who serve our communities. At Nevada DMV South Reno, 9155 Double Diamond Pkwy.

Wednesday, October 28, 2026, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The North Valleys Library will be hosting the 38th Annual Trick-or-Treat Parade at the North Hills Shopping Center. Show off your amazing costumes as you parade about the library and the shopping center stopping for treats. This library branch is at 1075 North Hills Blvd. in Reno.

Saturday, October 24, 2026 - Visit the Discovery Museum in costume and trick or treat from gallery to gallery. (For the safety of all museum visitors, no costumes with weapons of any kind are allowed.) There will be spooky decorations and delicious treats for all of the friendly or scary ghosts, ghouls and goblins who dare to attend. Advance tickets encouraged but not required. The cost is $4 for members, $5 for non-members. Members only will have exclusive entry from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Everyone else gets in from 12 noon to 5 p.m. The Discovery is at 490 S. Center Street in Reno.

This Halloween Trick or Treat event participates in the Teal Pumpkin Project. A number of the trick-or-treat stations will offer non-food items for kids with food allergies, as well as other children for whom candy is not an option.

Thursday October 29, 2026, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wear your costumes and visit us at our service desks for some treats. At the Spanish Springs Library, 7100-A Pyramid Highway in Sparks.

Tuesday, October 27, 2026, 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. For children of all ages with a focus on enjoying literacy and language as a family. Enjoy stories, fingerplays, and wiggle action as part of the experience to encourage a love of books, empower thinking, stimulate creativity, and promote an overall sense of wellbeing. At the Downtown Reno Library.

Friday, October 30, 2026. Spooktacular Trunk or Treat. Monsters, ghouls, spooky DJ and goblins – come trick-or-treat at 6865 Sierra Center Pkwy. in Reno.

Thursday, October 29, 2026, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Join us at our Reno Campus for a family-friendly trick-or-treating experience. Explore the shelter as our staff show off their creativity with spooky, pet-themed candy stations. Kids can collect treats, show off their costumes, and vote for their favorite decorated station. Adoptions will be available. The event will be at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno.

Friday, October 30, 2026, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Bring the whole family out for a fun-filled fall day celebrating our community and the great outdoors. There will be something for everyone, including pumpkin smashing and carving, live music, local vendors and non-profits, hot dogs, arts and crafts, kids' games, raffles featuring donations from local businesses and community members, adult beverages, and more. At Galena Creek Visitor Center, 18250 Mt. Rose Highway in south Reno.

Friday, October 31, 2026, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Bring your little ghouls and goblins to the food hall for some delightful trick-or-treating. Stop at each vendor stall just like you would in your neighborhood. Free. For ages 14 and under. Check the website for costume restrictions. Reno Public Market is at 299 E. Plumb Lane in Reno.

Thursday, October 29, 2026, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Bring the kids to Reno Town Mall for safe and free trick or treating. The Reno Town Mall is located at 4001 S. Virginia Street, across from the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

Friday, October 30, 2026, 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Admission is free to the Sparks United Methodist Church trunk or treat. Come for some spooky, safe fun. The church is at 1231 Pyramid Way in Sparks. For more information, call (775) 358-0925.

Thursday, October 29, 2026, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Kids are invited to come in costume and trick or treat from decorated trunk to trunk outside in the church parking lot. People at each trunk will hand out the candy. St. John's is located at 1070 W. Plumb Lane in Reno.

Thursday, October 29, 2026, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A night of trunks, treats and fun in a family friendly atmosphere. Holy Cross is at 4895 S. McCarran Blvd. in Reno.

Sunday, October 25, 2026, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A safe, fun, and free trunk-or-treat event where your kids will walk away with loads of candy and great memories. Come enjoy festive music, food trucks, and candy. At Cyan Park, 2121 Long Meadow Drive in Reno.

Thursday, October 29, 2026, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Hosted by the City of Reno in collaboration with Dean's Future Scholars, this free, family-friendly event is open to all Reno community members. Treats, games, music, food, and more. Costumes encouraged. 2745 Elementary Drive in Reno.

Saturday, October 24, 2026, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Join us for our 2026 Pumpkin Plunge. All ages are welcome to participate in this family-friendly event. Come pick a pumpkin from our floating pumpkin patch and participate in some festive fall activities. Event sponsored by Reno Parks and Recreation. Register online. The Northwest Pool is at 2925 Apollo Way in Reno.

October 1 - 31, 2026. As one of the most haunted destinations in the country, Virginia City is the perfect place to get spooked this October. Celebrate the supernatural and all things unexpected with an entire month of events including ghost tours, haunted ghost town, escape room, safe trick-or-treating, a goblin parade, pumpkin patch trains, visits to the cemetery, saloon crawl, and several events just for adults.

Saturday, October 31, 2026, 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Come march the streets of Virginia City in your best Halloween garb and be prepared to scare. Open to kids, adults, and even pets. Participate in the costume contest and stick around for safe trick-or-treating at the many shops along the boardwalk.

Friday, October 30, 2026, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Free trick or treating at the Governor's Mansion, 606 Mountain Street in Carson City. Festive decorations and entertainment for the whole family.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, October 22 - 24, 2026, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Enjoy some hot cocoa (adult versions available), construct your own broomstick to fly on using natural materials, make your own snake to wear on your arm, or design a fabric ghost. Take your chances in our haunted house (opens at 7 p.m.) or stumble through the spooky cookie cave. Fun for all ages. $12.50 per person age 5 and up, $5.50 for kids under 5. Halloween Hangout is a fun online collection of activities for kids. Get costume ideas, play games, check out cool photo galleries, watch spooky videos, get jack-o'-lantern carving tips, and more.

Wednesday, October 28, 2026, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Join us for some free family fun. We will have local vendors passing out free candy. Red Hawk is at 6600 N. Wingfield Pkwy. in Sparks.

Thursday, October 29, 2026, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Come out for this safe and family fun trick-or-treating event at Mills Park in Carson City. 100+ local businesses and organizations will decorate spooky booths and pass out candy. There will be food trucks, activities, inline skating, and more. This is a pretty big event.

Sunday, November 1, 2026, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come to celebrate this spectacular tradition to remember those who have already departed. There will be music, food, crafts, arts and more. The center of activities is E. Pueblo Street at the corner with S. Wells Avenue. Sponsored by Latino Arte and Culture.

October 5 to 22, 2026. Search "Halloween" to check out a list of additional Halloween events at various branches of the library.

Friday, October 23, 2026, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Free trunk or treat event. Put on your favorite costume and enjoy a night of tricks, treats, and spooky fun. At the Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson St. in Carson City.
