Gardening in Nevada: The Bartley Ranch Series - Tuesday, March 1, 2022. This free class is titled "Pruning and Training Fruit Trees," presented by Certified Arborist and Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Michael Janik. He will discuss the basics of fruit tree pruning, pruning to maximize production and more. Classes are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and in-person at Bartley Ranch Regional Park. Other Tuesday classes this month are on on March 8, 15, 22 and 29.

Broadway in the HOOD presents "American Son" - Friday and Saturday, March 4 - 5, 2022, 7 p.m. and 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday. Presented by Reno Little Theater, 147 E. Pueblo Street in Reno. The play is an explosive drama that takes place in real-time in the waiting room of a police station over the course of one evening, where an estranged biracial couple collides as they confront an unexpected crisis involving their son, the police, and an abandoned car. Their disparate histories and backgrounds inform their assumptions as they try to find out what happened to their son. All performances are free.

SNOWFEST! - through March 6, 2022. SNOWFEST is a ten day winter festival supporting local non profits, public programs, student organizations, and educational scholarships. Just a few of the events include the Tap Haus Block Party, SnowFest Fireworks, Polar Bear Swim, Tahoe City Dog Pull, Milk Jug Curling and Wine N Ice Competition.

Come in from the Cold Family Entertainment Series - Saturdays, March 5, 12, 2022. "Come in from the Cold" is held on Saturday evenings in the Western Heritage Interpretive Center at Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno. These family-friendly shows provide welcome relief from the frosty weather during the depths of winter. The 2022 series is in January, February, and March. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with performances starting at 7 p.m. Seating is limited to 200, so arriving early at this popular event is a good idea.

Leprechaun Race 5K Run / Walk - Sunday, March 6, 2022, 8:30 a.m. The race runs through the Midtown and Wells Avenue districts. It is family friendly. This is a great first 5K for new runners. Costumes are encouraged. You race against a leprechaun and if your time is faster than hers, then you will earn a special prize. For every runner and walker who the leprechaun beats, the leprechaun's pot of gold will grow in size as a benefit for the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum. Online registration is available.

Winter Walk Series from Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation - Sunday, March 6, 2022, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Come enjoy our local outdoor spaces this winter at your own pace. This last walk in the 2022 series will be at the Rosewood Nature Study Area in southeast Reno. Sign up are encouraged but not required. For more information, contact ashley@tmparksfoundation.org.

Discover Science Lecture Series at UNR - Thursday, March 10, 2022, 7 p.m. This free lecture is by Dr. Ken Ono, associate Producer and mathematical consultant on the movie "The Man Who Knew Infinity." Ono will present his lecture on the life and successes of Srinivasa Ramanujan, renowned Indian mathematician and the subject of the film, as well as Ono's experience working on set. In the Redfield Auditorium in the Davidson Mathematics and Science Center on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. Enjoy a public screening of the film before the event at the Joe Crowley Student Union theater at 4 p.m.

"Bull in a China Shop" from Reno Little Theater - March 11 - 12, 17 - 19, 24 - 26, 2022, 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. matinees on March 13, 20, 27. Inspired by the real letters between Mary Woolley and Jeannette Marks spanning from 1899 to 1937, this fast-paced comedy asks: What is revolution? What does it mean to be at odds with the world? How do we fulfill our potential? And how the hell do we grow old together? Tickets are $30 adult, $25 senior, $15 student. Reno Little Theater is at 147 E. Pueblo Street in Reno.

Picasso in Clay: Selections from the Robert Felton and Lindsay Wallis Collection - exhibit at the Nevada Museum of Art through August 7, 2022. Although Spanish-born artist Pablo Picasso is best known as a Modernist who invented the artistic style known as Cubism, he also produced a lesser-known, but equally impressive body of decorative ceramic objects during the latter part of his life. The Museum is open 6 days a week, closed on Mondays and national holidays.

Science Saturdays at the National Automobile Museum - Saturday, March 12, 2022. Join in on an adventure that is out of this world. Admission is $12 per person. The event is from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Pre-registration is required approximately two days before the event. Activities are designed for children 8 to 12 years old. They must be accompanied by an adult who will join the children for fun and exploration. Call the Museum at (775) 333-9300 for more information.

Hands ON! Second Saturday at the Nevada Museum of Art - Saturday, March 12, 2022. Come to the Nevada Museum of Art for fun for the whole family, including storytelling, art activities, live performances, and all current exhibits. Admission to the Museum is free for all on Second Saturdays.

Reno Leprechaun Crawl - Saturday, March 12, 2022, 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. It's coming back for the first time since 2019. The event draws people from all over the country and beyond, making it one of the largest bar crawls in the world. 20+ different participating downtown bars, nightclubs and restaurants, all in walking distance and no cover charges. Lots of beer and drink specials and giveaways. Visit the website for information about pre-purchasing cups, a list of participating venues, and specials on crawl night lodging.

Annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry - Saturday, March 12, 2022, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Go up to Virginia City for this popular event. Cooks from around the west fry, smoke or grill these delectable concoctions in a way that will make you forget what you're really eating. Dress to impress in your most festive or outlandish St. Patty's Day garb. The Ball Breaker Saloon Crawl is part of the festivities, along with a St. Patrick's Day Parade starting at 12 noon.

Daylight Saving Time Begins - Sunday, March 13, 2022. Set your clocks forward at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning. If you don't plan on being awake then, do it before going to bed on Saturday night.

Washoe County Schools Spring Break - March 14 - 25, 2022. Check out all of the cool spring break camps and other fun activities happening during this break in the school action. There are lots of choices, so check it out and sign up early for the best selection of activities and camps.

St. Patrick's Day - Thursday, March 17, 2022. Lots of parties and green beer all around the Reno / Tahoe region. Check this article to learn about parties and other fun St. Patrick's Day activities.

First Day of Spring - Spring begins with the Equinox on Sunday, March 20, 2022.

Reno Wine Walk - Saturday, March 19, 2022, 2 p.m. The Riverwalk Merchants present this fun event every third Saturday of the month. Visit any of the participating start locations with $30 and receive your wine glass and hand stamp (with photo ID), then make the rounds sampling wines at numerous businesses in the area. You can also purchase tickets online. This is a 21+ event. Pets and strollers are not advised. For more information, call 775-825-WALK(9255).

Discover Science Lecture Series at UNR - Thursday, March 31, 2022, 7 p.m. This free lecture is by Harrison Schmitt. As the last living person to walk on the Moon, Schmitt will share his experiences in space with students, scientists and the public. In the Redfield Auditorium in the Davidson Mathematics and Science Center on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. Enjoy a public screening of the film before the event at the Joe Crowley Student Union theater at 4 p.m.

Reno Expo 2022 - March 23 - 27, 2022. This big event is actually 5 shows for one ticket. All will run simultaneously at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, 4590 S. Virginia Street in Reno. Admission is only $10 for all five shows. $6 for seniors 60+ and kids under 12. 6 and under free. Wednesday - Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"Sweet: A Tasty Journey" at the Wilbur D. May Museum - through May 15, 2022. An interactive exhibit at the Wilbur D. May Museum at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno. "Sweet: A Tasty Journey" will take you on a journey through the history and manufacturing of candy, chocolate, and other treats. The entry fee to Sweet is $10 for adults, $9 for children 3 to 17 and seniors. Kids under 3 are free. Hours at the Wilbur D. May Museum are Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Discover Your Parks Free Walks - Enjoy in-person Discover Your Parks Walks during 2022. They occur every Thursday from April through September, with the first is on March 31, 2022 at Wingfield Park. The next on April 7 at Virginia Lake. Visit the web page for a full list. Attendance is limited and you must register to participate. If you would rather, you can virtually visit several popular parks and trails with guided hike presentations available from "Virtual Guided Hikes" on the TMPF website.
