April Fools' Day - Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Also known as All Fool's Day. Don't get caught being foolish.

Reno Aces Home Opening Day 2025 - Tuesday, April 1, 2025. The Aces play the Tacoma Rainiers at Greater Nevada Field, first pitch at 2:05 p.m. The series continues with home games from April 2 - 6, 2025.

"The Lost World of Dragons" at the Wilbur D. May Museum - through April 27, 2025. An interactive exhibit at the Wilbur D. May Museum at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno. The exhibit is a world of fantasy and adventure for visitors of all ages. Get a thrill from animatronic dragons. Try out a virtual reality experience that lets you ride a flying dragon. The entry fee is $13 for adults, $11 for children 3 to 17 and seniors. Kids under 3 are free. Hours at the Wilbur D. May Museum are Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Grow Your Own, Nevada! Gardening Classes - Tuesday, April 1, 2025, first class of series. For spring 2025, classes are offered online only. They start 6 p.m. at on Tuesdays and Thursdays in April. classes are free, but you still must register to attend the online classes. It's not super easy, but you can grow a vegetable garden and other plants in the high desert of Reno and northern Nevada.

Junior Ranger Adventure Day at Davis Creek Regional Park - Saturday, April 5, 2025, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Join Park Rangers on a hike through the burn area at Davis Creek Park, learning all about wildfire and its effects on the landscape. This will be weather dependent so keep your fingers crossed for nice weather. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and bring hats, sunscreen, water, etc. Not suitable for some strollers. Event is free but pre-registration is required. Contact Ranger Nick at 775-164-2955 for more information. Sun Valley Regional Park is at 5905 Sidehill Dr. in Sun Valley.

Pioneer Center Youth Programs - Free Family Series - Cascada de Flores - Saturday, April 5, 2025, 4 p.m. Cascada de Flores tells original, bilingual stories using song, a variety of traditional musical instruments, dance, theater and the sweet characters of traditional Mexican music. This free program features seating on a first come basis - no tickets required. The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts is at 100 S. Virginia Street in Reno.

Spring Festival at Andelin Family Farm - Wednesdays through Saturdays, April 9 to May 10, 2025. Wednesday and Thursday, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission includes access to the tulip U-pick fields, petting zoo area, and all the barnyard games and activities. There are a variety of tickets options available online. The farm is at 8100 Pyramid Way in Sparks. (775) 530-8032.

Bruka Theatre for Children presented by Pioneer Center Youth Programs - Thursday, April 10, 2025, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. (at North Valleys Library), and Sunday, April 13, 2025, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (at Northwest Reno Library). Brüka Theatre presents a live and interactive theatrical production featuring an ensemble cast along with original sets and costumes. Registration required.

Hands ON! Second Saturday at the Nevada Museum of Art - Saturday, April 12, 2025. Come to the Nevada Museum of Art for fun for the whole family, including storytelling, art activities, live performances, and all current exhibits. Admission to the Museum is free for all on Second Saturdays.

Festival of Colors - Saturday, April 12, 2025, 12 noon to 5 p.m. This multicultural event brings the community together with live music, DJs, dancing, yoga, food and drink, a kids' area, arts and crafts, color throwing and more. No outside colors, food or drink. Visit the website for online tickets and more information. At Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, 1595 N. Sierra St. in Reno.

Reno Riverwalk Wine Walk - Saturday, April 19, 2025. The Riverwalk Merchants present this fun event every third Saturday of the month. Tickets available online or you can purchase the day of the event. This is a 21+ event. Pets and strollers are not advised. For more information, call 775-825-WALK(9255).

Science Distilled: Drive-in for Science - Saturday, April 19, 2025, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. At this Science Distilled event, you'll follow NASA astronaut Scott Kelly as he embarks on a 12-month mission on the International Space Station. The mission goal: chart the effects of long-duration spaceflight by comparing him to his identical twin, astronaut Mark Kelly who remains on earth. $5 for museum members, $7 non-members. You can purchase tickets online. Presentation will be at the West Wind El Rancho Drive-In Theater, 555 El Rancho Drive in Sparks.

Junior Naturalist Program - Saturday, April 19, 2025, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Junior Naturalist Program from Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is a free outdoor program for children of all ages to learn about local plants and animals. The program for April is "Ecological Innovations" and it will be at Virginia Foothills Park. Junior Naturalists will explore toe ecological innovations with fun games and hands-on activities. You must register online to attend this free program.

Reno Earth Day Celebration - Saturday, April 19, 2025. Come to Idlewild Park between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to enjoy Reno's big annual Earth Day celebration. There will be numerous events, exhibitors, food and drink, live entertainment, and activities for both kids and adults. Check my article for more Earth Day events in Reno and up at Tahoe Truckee and South Lake Tahoe.

Free Admission to National Parks - Saturday, April 19, 2025. On the first day of National Park Week, it's free admission to all parks and other sites operated by the National Park Service. This includes parks around the west like Yosemite, Lassen Volcanic, Death Valley, and Great Basin. Other fees, such as for overnight camping and cabin rentals, will still apply. Be sure to check if your park of choice is open.

Free Easter Egg Hunts - Saturday and Sunday, April 19 - 20, 2025. There are several free Easter Egg hunts around Reno and up at Lake Tahoe on this Easter weekend. Some of these are big productions. Check out my list to find one near you.

Easter Brunch and Dining in Reno and Sparks - Sunday, April 20, 2025. You don't have to cook up a big meal on this holiday. Enjoy Easter Sunday brunch or dinner at any of several venues around the Reno / Sparks area.

Earth Day - Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Annual Reno Jazz Festival - Thursday through Saturday, April 24 - 26, 2025. With our full schedule of varied events, from quality performance reviews to big-name concerts, we aim to inspire and educate the next generation of jazz musicians. On the UNR campus at Nightingale Concert Hall. Check the website for shows, locations and other details. There are a number of ticket options available online.

Reno Mimosa Day Crawl - Saturday, April 26, 2025, noon to 6 p.m. This is something a bit different - an afternoon event. The event has prizes for group costumes, features 25+ venues in downtown Reno, and has limited tickets that will probably sell out. Mimosa Day is a chance to soak up some rays in a relaxed atmosphere where we can all enjoy some good bubbly, listen to some tunes and stroll around hitting up our favorite bars. 54th Annual Virginia City Grand Prix - Friday through Sunday, April 25 - 27, 2025. Experience legendary racing in historic Virginia City where thousands of motocross riders challenge themselves in the surrounding hills. Racing takes place all days. Attending the event is free. This being Virginia City, there will be lots of related activities and things to do while the motocross racers are zipping through town and around the rugged high desert.

KTMB Great Community Clean-Up - Saturday, May 3, 2025, 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Join Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB) for the annual Great Community Cleanup. This event focuses on the cleanup of illegal dump sites and noxious weeds in the open spaces surrounding the Truckee Meadows. Every year hundreds of volunteers come together to clean up our community. You will be able to choose from over 20 sites throughout the Truckee Meadows open-spaces. There will be a volunteer appreciation picnic after the clean-up with free food and drink. Go to KTMB Volunteer Sign-Ups to sign up and pick a work site.
