Reno Bighorns Basketball - Wednesday, February 2, 2018. The Bighorns take on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at the Reno Events Center, tip off at 7 p.m. Other home games this month are on February 3 (South Bay Lakers), February 6 (Texas Legends) and February 21 (Salt Lake City Stars).

Groundhog Day - On Friday, February 2, 2018, Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow, or not. Depending on which way it goes, Phil's 100% accurate powers of prediction will indicate an early spring or six more weeks of winter.

Come in from the Cold Family Entertainment Series - Saturdays, February 3, 10, 17, 24, 2018. "Come in from the Cold" is held on Saturday evenings in the Western Heritage Interpretive Center at Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno. The 2018 series is in January, February, and March. The doors open at 5 p.m. with performances starting at 7 p.m. Seating is limited to 200, so arriving early at this popular event is a good idea.

Super Bowl LII (52) Parties - Super Bowl Sunday 2018 is on February 4. It will be played at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. There are lots of big parties in the Reno area where you can enjoy food, drink, and cheer for your favorite team with lots of other fans. Justin Timberlake will be the featured performer during the halftime show.

TMPF Talks: Weather in the Sierra - Monday, February 5, 2018. This free talk by local experts and sponsored by Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation, will discuss weather and the atmospheric conditions that occur over the Sierra and into the Truckee Meadows. The talk will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the California Building at Idlewild Park in Reno. (775) 410-1702.

Free Classes about Gardening in Nevada - Bartley Ranch Series - Beginning on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 and continuing every Tuesday through March 27. Learn from experts about growing a vegetable garden and other plants in northern Nevada. All classes will be at Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno. The first class it titled "Selecting and Caring for Fruit Trees." 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Siren Song Masquerade - Saturday, February 10, 2018. A night of fun and whimsy at the Atlantis Resort Casino, while supporting music therapy in our community. Tickets are $65 per person, $1000 for a Mermain's Table of ten and $2000 for a Buried Treasure Table of ten. Tickets are available online or at (775) 324-5521. Proceeds go to support Note-Able Music Therapy Services.

Mardi Crawl - Saturday, February 10, 2018. This is an event on Reno's growing beer crawl calendar. Collect beads at every bar, enter costume contests, get pictures in the photo booth, hotel discounts, and more. Starts at 8 p.m. and goes till 6 a.m., for those that last that long.

Hands ON! Second Saturdays - Saturday, February 10, 2018, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Come to the Nevada Museum of Art for a day of fun family activities and free admission for all. Enjoy hands-on art activities, storytelling, a docent-guided tour, live performances, and community collaborations.

Science Saturdays at the National Automobile Museum - Saturday, February 10, 2018. Join in on an adventure that is out of this world. This month's topic is "Living in Space." Admission is $12 per person for children and adults, which also includes admission to the Museum and free refreshments. For participants age 8 and up. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. The event is from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required approximately two days before the event. Classix Four - Star Wars: The Music - Sunday and Tuesday, February 11 and 13, 2018. This Reno Philharmonic performance at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts in Reno will feature Davidson fellow Joe Broom on euphonium. This will be a terrific concert for Star Wars fans and everyone else. The Sunday show starts at 4 p.m. Saturday it is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available online.

Valentine's Day Dining and Activities - Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Valentine's Day this year falls on a Tuesday. There are romantic Valentine's Day dining opportunities available, along with other fun things to with your sweetheart.

Brew HaHa 2018 - Friday, February 16, 2018. Brew HaHa is a benefit for Sierra Arts Foundation. You can sample over 100 beers from local, regional, and national breweries while enjoying live music by Mojo Green. VIP admission is 7 p.m., with general admission at 8 p.m. VIP Tickets are $65 (plus tax & fee), general admission is $50 (plus tax & fee). Each is $10 more the day of the event. Tickets are available online or by calling (775) 356-3300. Brew HaHa will be at The Nugget, 1100 Nugget Avenue in Sparks.

"Hall of Heroes" at the Wilbur D. May Museum - through April 15, 2018. Superheroes, gadgets, crime-fighters and spies are all featured in the Hall of Heroes exhibit, along with movie props, costumes, memorabilia and rare artifacts. This entertaining and educational exhibit will be at the Wilbur D. May Museum in Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno, 1595 N. Sierra Street. (775) 785-5961.

Chinese New Year - The Year of the Dog begins on February 16, 2018. This celebration is also known as the Chinese Spring Festival.

Reno Wine Walk - Saturday, February 17, 2018. The Riverwalk Merchants present this fun event every third Saturday of the month. Visit any of the participating merchants with $20 and receive your wine glass and hand stamp (with photo ID), then make the rounds sampling wines at numerous businesses in the area. This is a 21+ event. Pets and strollers are not advised. For more information, call 775-825-WALK(9255).

Reno-Tahoe Senior Winter Games - The Games are open to citizens 50+ and will be held at various places around the area from January 30 through February 14, 2018.

President's Day - Monday, February 19, 2018. Schools, libraries and government offices will be closed.

Truckee Meadows Irrigation Ditches - Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Learn about Reno area history. This free program is brought to you by the Historic Reno Preservation Society. It is one of a series, with others scheduled in March, April and May. At Northwest Reno Library, 2325 Robb Drive, 1:30 p.m.

"Stomp" at the Pioneer Center - Friday and Saturday, February 23 - 24, 2018. This show at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. STOMP is explosive, inventive, provocative, witty, and unique. The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps – to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms.

Monthly Reno Beer Crawl - Saturday, February 24, 2018. This event is in downtown Reno where all of the participating bars, pubs, and restaurants are within walking (or crawling) distance. It costs $5 to participate and you can just show up at one of the start bars - advance tickets not required. Crawling is from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Reno Chinatown - Sunday, February 25, 2018. Learn about Reno area history. This free program is brought to you by the Historic Reno Preservation Society. It is one of a series, with others scheduled in March, April and May. At Sierra View Library, 4001 S. Virginia Street (Reno Town Mall), 1:30 p.m.

North Lake Tahoe SnowFest - March 1 - 11, 2018. SnowFest is a ten day winter carnival celebrating life in the High Sierra, with events and activities for all ages. Snow events will be at Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Homewood, Diamond Peak, and Northstar California.
